The David K. Wyatt Thai Database

Search Instructions

I. The database has four search points: Author, Title, Subject, and Keyword

A. The name(s) of the author(s), editor(s), or compiler(s) may be searched in either Thai or romanized script (with or without diacritics). When searching Thai authors, remember to enter the personal name first.

B. Titles may be searched in either Thai or romanized script. One need not enter a full title in order to retrieve a list of records. For example, one need only enter the word พงศาวดาร or Phongsawadan (chronicle) to retrieve a list of records for all the recorded chronicles.

C. Both English-language (Library of Congress) and Thai-language (Thai Union Catalog) subject headings may be imputed.

D. Keywords may be imputed in either English, Thai or romanized script. For example, the words ศพ or cremation will retrieve a list of records for all the cremation volumes

E. When searching by publication date (or a range of possible dates), users should enter in the appropriate date based on the Gregorian calendar, not the Thai Buddhist calendar (although both dates appear in the records).
