“New Immigrants from China: Immigration and Its International Environment”, China Overseas Chinese Publishing House, 2003. This book is the expiry achievement of a major program of the Education Ministry of China, titled “Chinese Migrants and China’s Overseas Chinese Affairs, based on an analysis of the International Immigration Environment”. An extensive range of description and analysis on the International environment and Chinese new immigrants was made in this book, in which, history, status quo and policies of immigration, livelihood and psychology, existing, social and cultural adaptability of immigrants in U.S.A., Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Europe, EOU, Asia( focusing on Japan), Africa and Latin America are analyzed respectively, and then, a wide-angle lens of immigrants, including ones for investments, skilled jobs, family unions, returned students, refugees and undocumented (illegal) employments , are shaped up.

“Modern China’s Relations with its Tributary States”, Guangdong High Education Publishing House, Guangzhou, 1993. This book analyzes the political, economic and cultural bilateral exchanges between the Qing Court and Xiam (Thailand), Vietnam, Burma, Korea, Laos and Sulu (in the South Phlippine), but putting stress upon the analysis of the Qing’s relations with Korea in1880’s

“GENG BIAN QIAN NIAN RU ZHOU MA----A Study of the Evolving Conceptions of Ancient Chinese and Arabians on the Golden Peninsular”, (Malaysia) Scholarship Press, Kuala Lumpur, 1995. This book analyzes ancient Chinese geographic view of the southward world in which the “ Golden Peninsular” in Southeast Asia was included, and ancient Arabian geographic view of “ Indian Ocean” in which the “ Golden Peninsular” was also included, meanwhile, comparing Chinese knowledge and information with Arabian ones, based on Chinese and English materials from Chinese and Arabian ancient books and files.

“Chinese Migration to Southeast Asia”, Nanfang (South) Daily Press, Guangzhou, 2000.This book describes and analyzes the history of all kinds of Chinese migrants such as merchants, peasants/farmers, workers, intellectuals and coolies in Southeast Asia in the second half of 19th century and the first half of 20th century. The book was written in a prose style.

“Source and Evolution of Gods Worshiped by Chinese in Southeast Asia, A Case Study on Thailand ”, Tatung Publishing Incorporation Limited, Bangkok, 2001. This book certifies, explains and analyzes the source of four major kinds of Chinese gods, i.e. super-worshiped gods, female gods, bantering gods and popular gods based on a classification made by the author, and then, analyzing the course of their “migration” to Southeast Asia together with ethnic Chinese from their “home towns” and the process of their localization in Southeast Asia.

“HAN SHAN SHI DE-----Ancient Korean Culture and China’s Influence”, China Overseas Chinese Publishing House, Beijing, 2002 A comparative study is made on important works in literature and arts, such as myths, poems, novels and music/dance in ancient Korea and China.
 

“Chinese Overseas Studies in China: A Comprehensive Remark on Its Published Papers in 1979-2000”, China Overseas Chinese Publishing House, Beijing, 2002. An abstract and remark of more than 700 papers, published in major China’s journals/magazines specialized in Chinese Overseas issues in 1979-2000, is made in this book with over 700 pages.

“Oil and Gas: Their Exploration and Exploitation in Asian-Pacific Region”, Guangdong High Education Publishing House, Guangzhou, 1993. This book analyzes the exploration and development of petroleum and natural gas in inland and offshore areas of 10 Southeast Asian countries and some Asian-Pacific countries. It involves the history of exploration and exploitation, the distribution of major oil fields, the trend of oil price and the impact on regional international relations.

“The Philippine”, Guangxi People’s Publishing House, Nanning, 1995.This book describes and analyzes the political system, diplomatic activities, economic situation and cultural development in the Philippine before 1994.

“International Law of Sea and Marine Jurisdiction in Asian-Pacific Region”, Guangdong High Education Publishing House, Guangdong, 1999.This book analyzes the theoretical basis of LOS in principle, such as straight baseline, territorial sea, archipelago states, continental shelf and EEZ, and the practice of LOS made by some Asian-Pacific countries, including the main viewpoints, debates on LOS and the marine delimitations between the countries concerned.

“A studies on the Legal Arguments for South China Sea”, Guangzhou Oceanic Geology Survey, Guangzhou, 2001. This book analyzes the major standpoints on the legal basis of the sovereign rights from some countries/regions concerned, and the main points of view on how to solve South China Sea conflicts from scholars at home and abroad, meanwhile, analyzing the effect of South China Sea situation on the regional international relations.

In addition, Prof. Gao was response for over 10 important programs from the national plan of humanities and social sciences of China, China’s Education Ministry and Guangdong Province in the past decade. All of them have been completed. Now two programs are in progress. Some of Prof. Gao’s monographs and programs were awarded from various levels.
