Education and Career

Education:
Born in Surabaya, Indonesia on October 9, 1930. Australian Citizen.
Educated at Anderson School, Ipoh, Malaysia 1936-46;
National Central University, Nanking, China 1947-48;
University of Malaya, Singapore 1949-54 (B.A. General 1952, B.A. Honours in History, Upper Second, 1953, M.A. 1955);
University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies 1954-57 (Ph.D. 1957).

王赓武为新加坡国立大学特级教授,澳洲国立大学荣誉退休教授。
祖籍江苏省泰州,原籍河北省正定县,曾祖父代迁居泰州.
1930年10月9日,出生於印尼泗水,早年毕业于马来西亚怡保安德申学校 (1936-1946年),
在中国南京国立中央大学肄业(1947-1948年)。
后转新加坡马来亚大学(1949-1954),取得马大文学学士及硕士学位;
往英国伦敦大学亚非学院深造,考取哲学博士学位(1957年)。

任世界各大学访问学人,包括伦敦大学洛克菲勒访问学人(1972年),牛津大学诸灵学院访问学人(1974-1975年),美国夏威夷大学(1981年)和肯萨斯大学(1983年)客座教授等。


1970年获选澳洲人文科学院院士(1980年至1983年为该院院长)。1988年获授英国CBE勋衔,
1992年获选台湾中央研究院院士,
1994年获美国文艺与科学研究院名誉院士,
福冈亚洲文化国际学术奖,
1996年获中国社会科学院名誉研究员,
伦敦亚非研究学院名誉院士。
